Liverpool Football Club, the most successful club in English history launched a new home kit. Competing at the highest level in football, the new season kit is always a must-have for fans and was available to pre-order from the club's official online store - Liverpoolfc.tv.
Challenge
To assist all fans in obtaining the much-anticipated new kit, Liverpoolfc.tv's online retail team has worked alongside its e-commerce partner, Snow Valley, to add extra functionality to the site. The team also recognised the need to join forces with a specialist that could ensure the site’s ability to cope with the projected increase in traffic and transactions.
Solution
Leading load testing and website monitoring specialists, Site Confidence, was appointed and proceeded to load test the website identifying a few problematic areas that could have impacted upon customer experience and decreased expected revenue.
Bob Dowson, Operations Director at Site Confidence, said: "We worked alongside Snow Valley to make sure that functionality development and load testing were carried out simultaneously in order to facilitate optimal website development through best configuration.
"During a full 24 hour testing period we emulated the both the experience of an individual site user and a multitude of site visitors all looging on at the same time. This way, we were able to detect the problems that were effectively acting as a 'bottleneck', meaning that the website user’s experience was slow and frustrating.
"We were then able to feed back to Liverpoolfc.tv exactly where the problems lay and what could be done to remedy them. Unlike other load testing services, we give our clients access to an online portal that lets them view the trial process, saving the company both time and resources."
Results
The website can now handle increased traffic and is able to process a greater number of transactions at any one time.
Site Confidence and Snow Valley have also entered into a partnership with Snow Valley offering load testing and website monitoring as part of a package to all retail clients, giving Site Confidence greater presence in the retail sector.
