Hear from our CEO
At NCC Group, our purpose is to create a more secure digital future. Through our government affairs work, we’re making it happen every day. Advocating for the cyber ecosystem, we help shape better cyber laws and frameworks for our clients and the industry at large, and stand up for the cyber professionals who help safeguard our societies and economies today and tomorrow.
See our priorities
We work to shape global cyber laws, to:
Ensure evolving cyber rules are proportionate and deliver strong resilience outcomes for all
Cyber regulations are now firmly a part of governments’ toolbox. As rules expand, evolve and strengthen, we are engaging with governments and legislators globally – from the UK and the EU to Australia and Singapore. We do this so that the rules which govern the digital world are risk-based, focused on security outcomes and reflect the real-world realities from operating on the frontline of cyber security.
Create a conducive policy environment for the cyber ecosystem to thrive
The UK Government’s Industrial Strategy designates cyber as a ‘frontier sector’, ripe for innovation and growth. This follows NCC Group’s calls for the cyber industry’s critical role in the economy to be recognised and backed by Government. It means that the sector is now a priority for investment in R&D, skills and exports.
We are continuing to work with UK policymakers to put this commitment into action, while advocating for similar cyber sector support around the world.
Protect legitimate cyber security research
As Founding Members of the CyberUp Campaign, NCC Group is championing reform of the UK’s Computer Misuse Act to create a statutory defence for security professionals. This would ensure that threat intelligence and vulnerability researchers can operate within clear legal frameworks without fear of prosecution.
In parallel, we have played a pivotal role in shaping global norms through the Pall Mall Process — a global initiative tackling the misuse of commercial cyber intrusion capabilities. We are emphasising the need to protect access to offensive tools for legitimate purposes, advocating for well‑structured vulnerability disclosure policies and risk‑based approaches that support responsible research while curbing abuse.

*Poll of participants from our last webinar "Global Cyber Policy RAdar: 2025 and beyond"
“In my contact with regulators and policymakers, I do see a clear awareness of the need to streamline and simplify regulations. That in itself is a positive sign. The intention is there. But, regulatory compliance inevitably creates operational overheads, so completely removing that burden is unrealistic.”
– Christo Butcher, Fox-IT
