IP Group PLC is a British-based Intellectual property business investing in technology companies. It is headquartered in London. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 IP Group plc, a leading intellectual property commercialization company that focuses on evolving great ideas, mainly from its partner universities, into world-changing businesses.
IP Group needed to review its existing security solutions in order to migrate to the cloud. To do so, it enlisted NCC Group’s expertise and experience to conduct a full security review. Challenge
In moving to the cloud, IP Group recognized the new security challenges that the cloud presented and the need to review existing security solutions, practices, and processes to align with a Cloud-first world. With a combination of Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and a number of Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, IP Group needed to gain enhanced visibility and greater control of business processing to ensure their secure operation in the cloud. The focus was to ensure the pre-requisite security requirements were in place to provide assurance to customers and meet regulatory obligations.
Solution
Working with NCC Group’s cloud security specialists, a full security review produced enhancements to security operations. Central to which a roadmap was developed for Azure Sentinel deployment to allow the creation of real-time views of their cloud operations and to maximize the Group’s resources.
NCC Group defined the scope, high-level design, and deployment plan for Azure Sentinel in a production environment. Leveraging existing investments, integrating Microsoft and third-party solutions for an integrated hybrid solution, all integrated into a comprehensive security roadmap.
Result
With access to a wide team of specialists, immediate improvements were made to the Office 365 environment. IP Group can deal with cloud-based data more quickly, and the capabilities of Azure Sentinel can provide machine learning and data analytics to eradicate false positives and deal with urgent matters rapidly.
It allows the IP Group team to work on other priorities and avoid overburdening scarce internal resources. IP Group gained comprehensive views and an enhanced security posture. The integrated approach of both NCC Group and Microsoft was proven to enhance security capability and resilience that most organizations couldn’t match.
