NCC Group launches tailored transport cyber security solution in APAC

08 November 2018

NCC Group  global cyber security and risk mitigation expert, today announced the launch of its Transport Assurance Practice, in the Asia-Pacific region to help organisations in the transport space face the challenges of today’s threat landscape head on, with a defensive, proactive approach.

The dedicated practice draws on industry-specific experts and leverages NCC Group’s extensive cyber offerings to provide cyber security assurance and escrow services to customers in the automotive, maritime, aerospace, and rail sectors.

The expansion of the Transport Assurance Practice to APAC is an extension of NCC Group’s global practice in North America, the United Kingdom and Europe.

Andy Davis, Transport Assurance Practice Director at NCC Group, said: “NCC Group’s decision to expand this practice to APAC is driven by market demand. In general, the region is considered a huge growth area for cyber security, but particularly in the autonomous mass transit and connected car markets.

“We are seeing a significant increase in the demand for secure transport systems in Australia, driven by the transition to connected public transport systems and the rise of autonomous vehicles. Cyber security assurance is a necessity for these systems to provide safe and secure public services.”

The Secure Development Lifecycle forms the core of NCC Group’s Transport Assurance Practice, providing organisations with security assurance at each stage of the development  of systems and components. Using techniques such as concept and design reviews, threat modelling, security assessment, and incident response, NCC Group identifies any system-level attack points and then provides expert remediation advice so organisations can implement appropriate countermeasures.

Julian Davies, head of Asia Pacific for NCC Group, added: “It’s a natural progression for NCC Group to extend the Transport Assurance Practice to APAC and signals our commitment to the region’s growth. It’s also timely given the Australian government recently established an Office of Future Transport Technologies to focus on improving transport and road safety by ensuring cyber security safeguards are in place for automated vehicles.
